Summary
This course is designed to provide the underpinning knowledge and skills required for an authorised NEC Authority Holder to receive Work Authorities for access to work on or near Not Electrically Connected infrastructure.
Note: Contractor Workers who hold an Energy Queensland authorisation as an Access Permit Recipient and/or Test Permit Recipient do not need to complete this course.
Training refresher: Every 3 years. Managed via the “3 gate” reauthorisation process.

Prerequisites
You must hold a valid Queensland Electrical Work Licence as an Electrical Fitter Mechanic, Electrical Linesperson or Electrical Jointer before enrolling in this course. You will need to attach a scanned copy to your course booking form.
Licence training is not offered by Esitrain, please find an alternative provider.

On successful completion of this module including all prerequisites and assessments you should have these skills:
- Describe the role and associated responsibilities of an authorised NEC Authority Holder, Switching Operator and Commissioning Coordinator
- Outline the requirements for receiving Work Authorities issued by authorised personnel and explaining details to the workgroup members
- Review and confirm conditions of Work Authorities to provide an electrically safe work area
- Outline the requirements for supervising electrical safety at the work area covered by Work Authorities
- Outline the requirements for transferring and surrendering Work Authorities to an authorised Commissioning Coordinator
- Demonstrate the approved enterprise procedures for Work Authorities: Checking and confirming disconnection points, earths and other precautions are adequate to ensure electrical safety for the work or testing being undertaken
- Demonstrate the approved enterprise procedures for Work Authorities: Carry out a hazard management assessment of the work area to determine the requirements for earths to ensure electrical safety for the work or testing being undertaken
- Demonstrate the approved enterprise procedures for Work Authorities: Receiving Work Authorities from authorised personnel on commencement of work and signing on if conditions enable safe access to the NEC high voltage electrical apparatus
- Demonstrate the approved enterprise procedures for Work Authorities: Carrying out work area briefing and effectively communicating the conditions and limitations of the Work Authorities to workgroup members
- Demonstrate the approved enterprise procedures for Work Authorities: Surrendering Work Authorities to authorised personnel and signing off on completion of work
